As a new service industry, the convention and exhibition industry has become an economic growth point for many cities in China. Experts pointed out that if the exhibition industry is to achieve healthy and sustainable development, it must break through three major bottlenecks: lack of talent, insufficient innovation, and low quality.

Gao Yan, vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), attended the national conference on economic and trade exhibitions abroad. He said that the development of the exhibition industry in China is in urgent need of compound talents. “This type of talent needs to understand and adapt to the industry and has a sense of planning. Now that graduates are too professional and academic standards are sufficient, they are less in line with market demand; foreign languages ​​are high, but most industries have poor knowledge and are capable of cross-sectoral organizations. There are very few exhibitions."

In addition to the "talent shortage", the lack of innovative awareness is also a major obstacle to the development of the convention and exhibition industry. Gao Yan pointed out that some companies are short-sighted, relying on “shortcuts” to infringe upon intellectual property rights, and “clone” brand exhibitions to imitate new products from other companies, causing bad influence. A certain type of exhibition was welcomed, and other exhibition companies immediately followed up and started vicious competition.

"The quality is not high" is the third problem that restricts the development of China's exhibition industry. At present, there are nearly 4 million square meters of exhibition area across the country, and more than 3,800 trade fairs are held every year. "The problem is not the quantity, but the quality has yet to be improved."
