Total Tarusia Optima from Total Marine Lubricants (purchasing supply) is a BN 100 cylinder oil that can be used with residual or distilled fuel. Recently, the cylinder oil (purchasing supply of the product library) has been approved for use in the two-stroke engine series of the Winterthur engine (Product Library Purchasing and Supply) Co., Ltd. (WinGD).
     According to Total, the new lubricant is suitable for use in fuels with a sulfur content of 0-3.5%. It can help ship operators switch between low-sulfur and high-sulfur fuels and meet the requirements of pollution emission control zones. There is no need to switch cylinder oil. The current practice is to switch to low BN oil when burning low sulfur fuels, while the most modern two-stroke engines require high BN fuel.
     Talusia Optima is an ashless neutralizing molecule (ANM) chemical that provides super neutralization and outstanding cylinder cleaning to reduce feed rates. The product has been tested on several ships and is expected to be launched later this year. More than 4,300 hours of verification tests were carried out on a Wärtsilä (ship hangar) 14RT-flex96C-B engine in a container ship (ship-type shipyard).      WinGD has approved the use of Talusia Optima on its Wärtsilä RTA, RT-flex and X-Series and Sulzer two-stroke engines.
