Using green tires made of high-performance synthetic rubber such as lanthanide butadiene rubber and solution styrene butadiene rubber can reduce car fuel consumption by 5% to 7%, thereby significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions. For this reason, it is no time to promote green tires.
Li Yongwu, president of the China Petrochemical Federation, said that currently there is a big gap between China's low rolling resistance and low noise tires, and the risk of structural overcapacity is increasing. The EU Tire Labeling Law will take effect in November 2012. To promote the development process of China's green tires and increase the proportion of high-end tire products, China should also hurry to formulate a tire labeling system, proceeding from standards, materials, and test fields.
Dr. He Deman, Chairman of the Management Board of LANXESS Group, said that the wave of motorization and people’s increasing awareness of environmental protection has driven the growing demand for green tires in the Chinese market. Green tires have obvious advantages in terms of fuel efficiency, safety and durability, and will be the most rapidly developing segment in the tire industry. Tire label regulations to be enforced in many countries will also increase the market's demand for green tires, and its global average annual growth rate will be about 10%. In 2020, the market share of green tires in China may increase to 50%.
The guests at the conference unanimously stated that China is the world’s largest automotive market and potential market for green tires. Germany has green innovation technologies for automobiles, tires and materials, and the cooperation between the two parties is very large.
