According to recent news, the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) stated that shipments in all sectors of the European tire industry in the first quarter of 2014 have grown strongly. Passenger tire shipments increased by 10% from 46.6 million in the first quarter of 2013 to 51.1 million. The growth of truck tires was particularly strong, increasing by 16% from the 1.9 million in the first quarter of 2013 to 2.2 million. Shipments of agricultural tires in the quarter increased by 7% year-on-year, from 464,000 to 499,000. Motorcycle/wagon tires rose by 12% from 2.7 million to 3 million.
