WABCO and G7 Bring Trailer FMS Solutions to China's Fleet Market

On April 19, 2017, WABCO and G7 signed an agreement in Shanghai to establish a joint venture to design, develop, manufacture and sell trailer and truck fleet management systems in China. WABCO is the world's leading supplier of commercial vehicle safety, efficiency and smart interconnection technologies. G7 is the industry's leading smart Internet of Things. Both parties will each hold a 50% stake in the new joint venture to serve the Chinese market.

WABCO will further penetrate into the Chinese market and further promote its content-rich fleet management system (FMS). As a system-wide supplier, WABCO can independently connect trucks, trailers, cargo, drivers, business partners and fleet operators in real time to identify problems in a timely manner, thereby significantly improving fleet safety, operational efficiency and asset utilization.

G7's vehicle intelligent terminal equipment can collect real-time data including real-time vehicle position, speed, driving route, driving condition, access area, residence time, fuel consumption, driver driving behavior, driver attendance, cargo temperature, cargo handling, etc. With leading products and high-quality services, G7 continues to help large fleets and small micro-team customers connect vehicles to smart IoT platforms and achieve high-speed business growth. The new joint venture will first combine WABCO's advanced trailer telematics and electronic braking system (TEBS) and G7's intelligent tube train system to develop innovative trailer FMS solutions for the Chinese fleet market. These solutions will read and process vehicle control system data in real time, including roll stability control (RSS), braking performance, cargo and route optimization, axle loading and vehicle tracking, and other safety and efficiency differentiation options.

In addition, the joint venture's Trailer FMS solution will be linked to WABCO's award-winning smart trailer solutions that enable and control over 40 vehicle-mounted functions such as OptiTireTM Security Assist Technology, OptiLockTM High Security Technology And OptiFlowTM Aerodynamics Technology. WABCO's smart trailer solutions can be tailored to the needs of each team and have the industry's most comprehensive options to help teams reduce operating costs, save fuel, and improve driver safety and comfort.

The joint venture also plans to further develop and provide truck FMS solutions, making full use of WABCO's and G7's unique vehicle data resources. In general, the new joint venture aims to set new standards for the safety, efficiency and smart interconnection of cargo transportation in the Chinese market while further monitoring and improving the skills of drivers.
