Sony announced on June 28 that it will sell its chemicals business for 58 billion yen (about 730 million U.S. dollars) to the Japan Development Bank to continue its restructuring plan. The assets sold include Sony Chemicals and Information Equipment Corporation (SCID). Before the acquisition is completed, SCID will transfer non-chemical business to Sony, and Sony will inject other chemical-related business into SCID.
