Renewable Energy Plenary promotes "regeneration"

The 4th plenary session of the International Renewable Energy Agency was held recently in Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Representatives of host countries indicated at the opening ceremony that they would spend heavily to promote renewable energy projects.

Officials from more than 150 countries and regions and representatives from more than 120 international organizations attended the event. Sultan Ahmed-Jaber, UAE Minister of State and Special Representative for Energy and Climate Change announced in his speech that the UAE government will provide a total of 350 million U.S. dollars in financial assistance for global renewable energy development projects. In addition, the first batch of renewable energy projects funded by the “Abu Dhabi Development Fund” will be announced on the 19th and its total funding will reach US$41 million. These initiatives aim to encourage developing countries to implement renewable energy projects.

Liu Qi, deputy director of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China, pointed out in his speech at the meeting that China is a large developing country and faces outstanding energy issues. It is necessary to ensure the safe and reliable supply of energy and solve environmental pollution and other issues. China attaches great importance to the development of renewable energy, formulated laws and policy measures to promote the development of renewable energy, and has made great achievements in the development of renewable energy. As of the end of 2013, China's renewable energy has accounted for 10% of energy consumption. China will accelerate the improvement of relevant policies and measures and continue to actively promote the development of renewable energy.

According to plan, during the two-day plenary session, the International Renewable Energy Agency will evaluate the "2030 Roadmap." The roadmap was proposed in January 2013 and aims to increase the share of renewable energy in global energy sources to 30% by 2030. The current plenary session will discuss the possibility of further increasing this share.
