Recently, ExxonMobil and Caterpillar reached a multi-year lubricant supply agreement. As part of a multi-year agreement, ExxonMobil will be Caterpillar. Manufacturers and distributors around the world produce and supply Caterpillar brand lubricants. Through this agreement, ExxonMobil continues to be the exclusive global supplier of 33 Caterpillar lubricants for engines, transmissions, hydraulics and terminal drives.
Exxon Mobil began supplying Caterpillar with proprietary brand lubricants in 1987, and both parties cooperated on world-class product research. Lubricant technology developed through this research can work with machines and engines as a system to provide Caterpillar customers with maximum performance while reducing their operating costs. In addition, these technologies provide benefits related to sustainability through the extension of the oil change period and the protection of engine emission reduction systems.
Jim Hennessy, vice president of lubricants and specialty product sales at Exxon Mobil, said: "Through ongoing collaborative research, our team has designed and produced lubricants that meet Caterpillar's high performance standards. This is a rigorous process: Products and performance specifications have been tested and approved by Caterpillar prior to the production of lubricants. As part of our global partnership, a dedicated ExxonMobil support team provides technology and services to Cat dealers and factories worldwide. Marketing training."
ExxonMobil and Caterpillar are currently developing next-generation lubricants and related technologies that can further help reduce emissions and extend component life.
