According to foreign media reports, starting from February 13, Michelin North America began to recall a number of problem tires.
The recalled product is X Works XZY truck tires, measuring 315/80R 22.5 156/150K in quantities of 247.
These tires lack the DOT code and the load range letter designation.
The recalled tires were manufactured by Michelin's plants in Poland and Northern Ireland and will be produced from January 1, 2011 to July 31, 2015.
According to Michelin, the maximum load capacity and load index of this tire meet the standards published by the European Tire and Rim Technical Organization and also meet the relevant US safety and performance requirements.
However, due to the lack of the necessary DOT code and load range letter designation, the product does not comply with the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS).
In June 2015, Michelin discovered the error and filed an application to the US Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) to “find an insignificant mistakeâ€.
However, it finally reached a settlement agreement with NHTSA in January 2017 for a voluntary recall.
