Global geothermal heat pump demand will increase by 14% in 2015

School districts throughout the United States have begun to adopt a universal, ground-source heat pump to replace the traditional electrical heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVACs). Since the 1990s, the first ground-source heat pump (GSHP) 9 system has been adopted. The technology has been proven to be reliable and efficient, and energy costs are reduced by 30% to 50% compared to the older refrigeration systems.
According to a prediction analysis by Markets and Markets, a Dallas-based market research and consulting company, on January 14, 2011, the global geothermal heat pump plant is expected to increase from 2.94 million units in 2010 to 5.66 million units in 2015. It will increase by 14%.
In Dallas, the cost of traditional HVACs and GSHP systems is in the range of $17 to $20 per square foot, and drilling increases by $5 to $6 per square foot.
The 100,000-square-foot GSHP system requires 100,000 square feet of space.
