Automobile export encouragement policy is expected to be introduced next year

Although the December data has not yet been released, it is generally expected by the auto industry that the number of auto exports in China that exceeded 800,000 vehicles in 2011 will not be suspense. An authoritative person in the auto industry told the China Securities Journal that, in addition to energy-saving and new energy vehicle industry planning, encouraging automobile exports will be an important aspect of the automobile industry policy next year.

Exports only account for 4% of production

According to data from the China Automobile Association, from January to November, total vehicle sales increased 2.6% year-on-year to 16.816 million units, of which passenger cars increased by 5.3%, and commercial vehicle sales fell 5.9%. In the same period, automobile exports totaled 758,300, an increase of 274,900 over the same period of the previous year, and contributed 65.43% to the growth of domestic automobiles during the same period.

Although the export volume of automobiles in 2011 accounted for 4% of the total output, which is a certain improvement over the 3% in 2010, the export situation of China's auto industry is not good at present, but it is generally scattered and the output scale is not large.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Commerce, in 2010, there were 500 auto exporters in China, and the export volume of 580,000 vehicles was distributed in 210 countries and regions around the world. At present, the number of automakers that are currently ranked among the top exporters are Chery, Chang'an, Great Wall, and Lifan.

The SAIC Group, which ranks first in the domestic auto industry, is expected to sell more than 4 million vehicles this year, but its export volume is almost negligible. "In the period of low growth in the automotive industry in the next few years, the original export market with insufficient emphasis and actual development will be valued in the future." SAIC-related sources said to the China Securities Journal.

Export development planning is pending. In July of this year, 11 ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Commerce jointly issued the "Opinions on Promoting the Sustainable and Healthy Development of Export of Electromechanical Products during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period". There are three aspects related to the automobile industry: 25 key industries are encouraged. The 100 leading companies set up a sound overseas marketing network and after-sales service system; they continued to do a good job in the construction of automobile and parts export bases; and improved the export order methods for automobiles and motorcycles.

Industry insiders expect that in accordance with the above requirements, the relevant national ministries and commissions will formulate and publish the "Automobile Industry Export Development Plan" in 2012, amend the "Regulations on Automated Automobile Export Order Management" and implement the development goals set forth in the "Opinions".

From the data of car sales this year, it is unrealistic for China's auto industry to rely on exports to save. However, at present, only about 4% of the export ratio, there is still considerable room for auto exports.
